SLEEP

Sleep is important to recover from the physical and mental demands of training and matches but is also important for optimal health and well-being.

Sleep plays a critical role in improvements in physical health with a reduction in stress hormones, increases in testosterone, and decreased risk for illness and injury.

Research has also shown that with increased amounts of sleep, performance, cognitive function, and mood is improved.

While a couple of nights of poor sleep is not a major concern, prolonged poor sleep can negatively influence performance and health, so it’s important to reach out for support if needed.
